Who Am I?

My name is Erika, owner of Bark in the Park, and I absolutely love what I do!

Why do I do what I do?

I quit my office job in the oil industry to do something that I am passionate about and that makes me look forward to every working day - with Bark in the Park I have found all that and more!

Being around dogs all day, seeing their faces light up when I collect them and their joy as we explore the many adventure trails around Aberdeen, truly is a pleasure. My handsome Cockapoo, Hamish, likes to tag along on some walks too - the happy wee social butterfly that he is, he loves to make new friends and have a buddy to play with.

I understand it's hard to juggle the commitments of working life with giving your furry friends the much needed exercise and attention they need - physical health and proper mental stimulation are key for a well balanced pooch. With Bark at the Park, you can go to work or that social event feeling completely guilt free, knowing that your pooch is having a blast and is in the very best of hands.

Every doggy is a unique individual and as such, I create a personalised, tailored service with each doggy parent that ensures the care and routine they are given suits them. I really will try my best to accommodate in any way possible.

I transport my 4-legged friends in my own personal car where they can all have their own seat, doggy seatbelt, fresh air and a window view. I believe in treating each pooch as a member of my family, and this means not being put in a crate in the back of a van.

My group walks have a maximum of 5, with the fourth pup space only being filled by Hamish on some of the walks he joins on. Groups are made up of compatible personalities - I understand that not all dogs get along and it's important that they make friends and enjoy the company they are in. Small groups means maximum attention and safety for every dog in my care, while they still get to experience their natural 'pack' environment and develop their social skills.

Where do I go?

I don't take the easy option by just taking doggies down to the park to tire themselves out, I take them on a full hour WALK. While we may walk through the park on our route, it will be as part of an active, adventurous walk with varied sights, smells and landscapes. Pooches need variation in scenery - beaches, forests, streets, riversides - where they can investigate and use all their senses, this makes for a happy and content pup.

When do I do It?

I don't have fixed working hours - group dog walks are in place Monday to Friday mornings and afternoons but on request I can be available evenings and weekends to offer care when you have other commitments. Just ask!

Choosing a dog walker for the fluffy love of your life is a huge decision. As such, before you choose to use Bark in the Park, it would be great for us all to meet at your home. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and ask any questions. This initial consultation is completely free and there's absolutely no obligation to sign up or to make a decision on the spot. It has to feel 100% right for you.
